The jubilee 20th edition of Škraping makes history with more than a record-breaking 1,500 participants from 18 different countries

The jubilee 20th edition of the international trekking race Škraping, held this past Saturday in Tkon on the island of Pašman, has officially made history as the largest and most significant to date. More than a record-breaking 1,500 competitors from 18 countries across the globe gathered on the start lines, turning the sharp Pašman karst into a global stage where professional athletes, sports enthusiasts, and families united under the humanitarian slogan “For Their First Breath.”

Under ideal weather conditions, runners tested their limits across four demanding trails, while the entire event resonated with a noble mission: collecting funds from registration fees for the purchase of a central monitoring system for newborns at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Zadar General Hospital.

Dominance of Daniel Krstulović Opara and Sporting Excellence

The competitive segment was marked by the absolute dominance of a Škraping legend. Daniel Krstulović Opara once again confirmed his status as the king of the sharpest karst, winning the most difficult Marathon category (45 km). In the men’s competition, he was followed by Duje Džin and Andrija Ročak, while Jadranka Žilić triumphed in the women’s marathon, ahead of Lucija Križanac Mihaljević and Valerija Jelenc.

In the Challenger category (25 km), the fastest were Grega Brglez and Tamara Ravnak. The Active trail (12 km) was won by Antonio Erceg and Doris Blažević, while the shortest, Light trail (6 km), saw victories from Mark Pisek and Tara Baksa, who completed the course in an impressive 53 minutes and 50 seconds.

A Logistics Triumph and Promotion of Island Authenticity

The Director of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Tkon, Jelena Ugrinić, emphasized that organizing this jubilee edition was a massive logistical feat. The record number of participants required maximum engagement at all refreshment points, ensuring top-tier support for every runner. With participants arriving from as far as the USA, Sweden, and Norway, Škraping has solidified its status as a world-renowned sports brand.

The official program began with the opening of the Island Product Fair, inaugurated by State Secretary Zrinka Raguž. The fair brought together the best local producers and holders of the “Croatian Island Product” (HOP) label, offering visitors a direct experience of the authentic flavors and traditions of Pašman, which is crucial for the sustainable development of the islands.

Known Figures in Sporting Attire

The 20th-anniversary climb over the Pašman rocks also attracted numerous public figures who participated strictly in a personal and sporting capacity. Damir Habijan successfully finished the 25 km Challenger trail, highlighting the unique atmosphere of Škraping that cannot be experienced anywhere else. He was joined on the trail by Šime Erlić, who spent the race in a family setting, emphasizing the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle and the natural beauty of the island.

A Humanitarian Note: For the Future of Zadar

Beyond sporting success, the 20th Škraping confirmed its inclusivity with the participation of members of the Association of the Blind. The humanitarian character remained in focus, as the funds raised from registration fees will enable the purchase of life-saving equipment for the Zadar maternity ward. The central monitoring system for newborns will serve as a lasting legacy of this historic jubilee.

The organizing team, led by the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Tkon, the Municipality of Tkon, and the utility company Orlić Ltd., expresses gratitude to all volunteers, members of the HGSS (Croatian Mountain Rescue Service), DVD Tkon (Volunteer Fire Department), and all partners and sponsors who made it possible for Tkon and Pašman to once again become a center for sporting excellence and human solidarity.
