Registration has officially opened for the upcoming edition of \u0160kraping, Croatia\u2019s largest and most popular international trekking race. The announcement comes on the heels of a significant accolade; on the eve of launching the new race cycle, the event received prestigious recognition at the Zadar County Premium Tourism Awards.<\/p>\n

The race was honored in the Active Tourism of the Year category, with the award accepted by Jelena Ugrini\u0107, Director of the Tkon Municipality Tourist Board.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are extremely pleased to receive this award for best active tourism. I believe this is a gift and recognition of many years of hard work\u2014a special and credible validation that \u0160kraping truly deserves. We attract a large number of participants; year after year, new runners arrive for the first time, which is particularly exciting for us. Hosting between 800 and 1,000 visitors and competitors annually, we never know exactly what to expect, but we are looking forward to 2026. We will continue to strive for excellence and, of course, focus on quality, as that is our top priority,\u201d Ugrini\u0107 commented on the recognition.<\/p>\n

Preparations for the 2026 edition are already well underway, with current efforts focused on marketing, merchandise design, and route planning.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year we try to introduce something new, and we hope we are succeeding. The most challenging part is reserved for the final week. First, we inspect everything on-site, traversing all the routes to map them out and determine the exact distances before officially publishing them for the competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

While registration has commenced, organizers emphasize that the upcoming \u0160kraping will carry a significant charitable component.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegistration is open via our website, where all details are available, with sign-ups processed through the Tracy platform. It is crucial to emphasize that \u0160kraping 2026 has a humanitarian character\u201410% of each entry fee will be donated to the Zadar General Hospital, specifically the maternity ward. We are raising funds for CTG monitoring equipment for expectant mothers. I believe \u0160kraping has surpassed all boundaries this time, and I invite even those who do not wish to run to consider donating to the cause,\u201d appealed the Director of the Tkon Tourist Board.<\/p>\n

The \u0160kraping trekking race has a long history, dating back to 2006 when \u0160imun Cimerman and the late athletics expert Josip Tomi\u0107 from Biograd first conceived this unique challenge across the rugged terrain of Pa\u0161man Island.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call it the ‘flagship’ race because it will always remain true to its roots\u2014those 45 km of pure rocky terrain. Our competitors who return year after year\u2014and there are many\u2014say it is such a challenge that they cannot miss it, often citing it as the toughest race in the trekking league. We host participants from 12 to 15 different countries, and we are exceptionally pleased that the event is recognized globally, not just within our county,\u201d Ugrini\u0107 concluded.<\/p>\n
